#BringBackVine

We have an issue.

Vine has actually been shut down by Twitter, and there are various reasons for the shutdown as I discuss later in this blog. The point of this specific blog will be to give a little argumentative stance on why Vine should come back and how it could help a business if it ever were to make a return. Vine was very popular and I could potentially see a way to be creative and allow this platform to help a business.

What WAS Vine?

Vine was a video-sharing app designed to allow users to film super short clips that could be linked together in one video for a total of six seconds. Each short video played in a continuous loop. They could be embedded and viewed directly in Twitter’s timeline or any web page. Vine was a place where you had your very own channel and you could post as many videos as you wanted as well as view other peoples videos that you connected with.
Vine actually no longer exists, curious as to why?
According to Variety.com, Twitter launched Vine in 2012, and originally envisioned it as a social video sharing service. However, the constraints of the service quickly sparked a wave of creativity, inspiring a new wave of creators to record to-the-point stand-up comedy, lip sync clips, crazy video edits and more in Vine’s six-second looping videos. However, Twitter long postponed monetization of the service, and Vine faced some stiff competition from Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook. Twitter eventually added a way for Viners to make money with their work last June, but that may have been too little, too late to halt the service’s decline.
Ways that Vine could help YOUR business:

Advertise and Promote Your Products

Use short videos to advertise new product lines, promote discounts and sales, and showcase how your products work. These visuals can help persuade customers to buy into your brand and make them feel more assured when making a purchase.

More Content for Social Sharing

As Vine will allow you to post to their own community, as well as Twitter and Facebook, the videos you create will ultimately give you more ammunition for social sharing. Don’t forget to include hashtags where appropriate to make your content more relevant to your audience and to increase your social reach. Customers, fans and followers alike will value seeing a dynamic range of status updates which incorporate written, video and image based content.

Reach a Wider Audience

Vines has come a long way since its inception in 2013 and as more people and businesses come to realise the potential of this app, the figure is only expected to rise. Out of the existing 67 million users, this gives your business the potential for greater reach, engagement and interaction online. As the platform is simple to use, you won’t be investing money or a great deal of time into Vine either, so go and chase your awaiting target audience!
